Authors & Advisors

Author: MZspouse

An Army spouse who knew nothing about military life when I married a soldier who had already served 12 years. Shortly after we were married he changed his MOS and attended school for a couple years. Immediately after graduation he deployed for 12 months but was sent home with an injury at the 11 month mark. Quite by accident he ended up with back-to-back deployments and was gone for 27 out of 32 months and spent two more of those months (between deployments) recovering from the first tour. Since much of my previous life was spent as a marketing executive at technology-based corporations, I knew I would need to be a quick study ~ to learn how to live and be happy in my new world. I’m sure we’ll be talking later about avenues that helped with my acclimation…………..most of which can be attributed to other military spouses!  Through this Blog I’m hoping to replicate the kindness that was shown to me along the way.

 Author: Short Timer

An Army spouse who has been married to the military for 15 years. She and her husband have PCS’d with their children to Fort Benning, Fort Lewis, Fort Hood, and Fort Jackson. They endured a deployment to Korea when the two oldest children were just 3 years old and nine months old and more recently a deployment to Iraq.  “Short Timer” earned her degree online and has worked for various businesses and has donated her services as a volunteer to many organizations and committees, both military and civilian. She is referred to as “Short Timer” because she and her family are anticipating a 2011 date for leaving the Army. Whether she’s an active duty or retired spouse, her experience and insight will be a valuable asset to this Blog.

Advisor: Cathy

The wife of a senior Army officer, and a mother who has been involved in many aspects of military life, including three deployments. Cathy has offered to be an Advisor for this blog and will be available when a specific topic requires her insight.
