Some Resources Just Have To Be Shared!!!
I’m sure the makers of “Magicjack” thought the name of their product was an amazingly great description of how their product works. Unfortunately, it might describe it too well for many people to take serious. Perhaps people don’t think of anything with “Magic” in its name is worth taking seriously.
A couple years ago when my sister (who has experimented with every multi-level marketing scheme imaginable) told me about a product with “magic” in its name……..I admit I blew it off and thought “this must be her latest craze”. Well, two years and a lot of money later, I’m wishing I had given her the benefit of the doubt!!
Because the PX was selling Magicjacks for $39.99, we decided to just get it and check it out. OMG!!! From Germany I am calling friends and family several times a week and it doesn’t cost me a cent!!! I don’ t need to use minutes on my cell phone, I don’t have to pay any long distance charges; I COULD call them several times a day if I had the time.
It’s been installed for a little over a week and I’m so excited. The makers of Magicjack let you pick what state (area code) you want for your Magicjack phone number. So even though I live in Germany, people can call my Texas phone number and reach me here. It’s AMAZING!!! You even get an address book, voice mail, directory assistance, a phone number, Caller ID, Call Waiting, conference calling, and call forwarding at no extra charge.
For families living stateside, Magicjack is awesome. However, for those of us who live overseas, it’s better than AWESOME. I have so many companies I do business with in the states but it was almost cost prohibitive to try to reach them by the time I was put on hold for 20 minutes. And some of the customer support reps are willing to call you back……………only if you have a stateside phone number. With Magicjack, I can put them on intercom and I don’t care if they put me on hold. I can also give them a number where they will call me back!
I can call anywhere in the U.S. using my Magicjack for free, and I can call to anyone anywhere in the world who has a Magicjack for free. That may sound confusing, so let me give an example. Have any of you had to reach your spouse while they’re deployed? How many numbers did you have to dial to reach them? Well, if I call from my Magicjack number to the Magicjack number of my deployed spouse, it costs me nothing and it’s as easy as dialing your mother who’s one state away from you! But people in the U.S. do not need to have a Magic Jack installed on their end in order for the call I make from the Magicjack on my end to be free! Cool, huh? I’m just surprised there’s not a lot more buzz about these things. Am I missing something?
Evidently the price we paid from the PX is only good for one year, but its well worth it and even if we’re back in the states by then, we’ll definitely be renewing. I’m not positive but I think it costs $20 to renew for another year, or a smaller yearly rate if renewed for more years at once.
I’m betting by now that you probably think I sell these things. Nope. I’m a web developer, graphic designer and marketing consultant who is lucky to find time to post on my SpouseClubs.com blog. The whole reason the blog even exists is to share great resources, so that’s my mission today……..to tell others about Magicjack!
Military spouses who don’t know where to find them might try the PX or other on-post stores. If you happen to live in the Kaiserslautern Military Community (in Germany) you can get them even cheaper. I only discovered this after I paid more for mine. You can contact MJ.FREE.CALLS@gmail.com and get them for $30 ………….or buy two for only $55!
Oh, one other really cool thing………….if you’re traveling, you can take Magic Jack with you and call home for free! And on top of all that, it’s a breeze to install; just plug it into the USB port on your computer and they will prompt you through the rest. SO VERY COOL!!! Guess that’s why they call it “magic”.

Talk about perfect timing! My husband and I recently moved here and were just discussing getting a phone plan to call the states. We heard of MagicJack, we just didn’t know if it was worth while. Now I think we will definitely check it out! Thank you so much!
Feel free to email me at mj.free.calls@gmail.com. Just a reminder, I have Magicjack for $10 less than the BX. My price is $30 including the first year of calls! You can also check them out at http://www.EverythingKMC.com/classifieds.
One thing you did not mention is the fact that Magicjack allows us to call toll-free numbers in the U.S. The “free” long distance package offered by TKS does not allow dialing 800/866/877 etc. So, if you want to order something from a place with a toll free number, you can call with Magicjack, but not from your German phone line.
